Mapping question

Hi live 6 users.

I'm using a Novation SL keyboard with automap and Live 6 and tis fabulous.

But I have a question.

I've mapped the touch pad on the SL to 2 parameters on one VST, and also to 2 parameters on a second VST. These are on different tracks (obviously). I was hoping that if I selected a track then the touch pad would just control the VST on that track, but it always controls both. I tried locking one VST to the control surface, but the control movement still affected both.

Does anybody know if there is a way of doing this?

I've mapped track selection to some controls on the keyboard so I can select tracks without touching the computer - which is a pretty cool feature in itself.

automap is completely different than midi assign. automap is not assigned to the touch pad, the assignments you made are old fashioned midi assignments.

best thing you can do would be to either mute the effect you don't want to control (but you'll still be controlling, just not hearing it)

or make a template group, all with automap (use the DUMP button, check the Live manual) where each template has the touch pad set to a different midi channel.

OR rewrite the automap assignment in Live by reading the .txt files buried here:
C:\Program Files\Ableton\Live 6.0.1\Resources\MIDI Remote Scripts\_Tools
and by examining the SL25's remote script.

it can be fun like you have it too though
try creating a rack with 3 seperate filter LP, HP & BP and 1 slider to chain between them
then map your xy controller to all three identically and fade between filter using the slider...
or any # of different fx in a rack using the same method...
just make sure they dont overlap and play at the same time unless you want them to
