the world is full of assholes, and show-business of all industries probably has most of them.
junkies, drunks, thieves, perverts, rapists, murderers...ex-convicts
you might like to take a persons moral inclination into account or their criminal record, but you cant really apply it to a copyright case.

O yeah, it helps to RTFA...
OK, so it's trademark infringement. Very different from copyright. With that. he might just be screwed, although it's a pretty grey area IMO. Knievel is gonna have a hard time proving any substantial loss or damages, but Kanye would have been much safer had he not intentionally misspelled his (Knievel's) name & stuck it up on the screen.

It's obviously a parody though. I don't think Knievel has a leg to stand on and this is just a desperate grasp for publicity. I just find it interesting that people hate Kanye so much now that they'll defend a thieving wife-beating loser like Knievel over a creative rights issue like this. If it were anybody else but Kanye you'd all be defending his right to parody.
its not like it was a skit on a comedy sketch show
it was the full length video for a major-release single, getting ridiculous airplay all across the globe. It totally and un-deniably ripped off knievels trademark...not even vaguely, but quite specifically. I seen some footage of the original stunt coincidentally - and kanye ripped it off big time.
sometimes you get away with it, sometimes you dont. bastard or not, knievel is a player in showbusiness, he went to alot of trouble to create his trademark, and pull off the stunts and make the videos......ffs give him his dues. maybe his kids/grandkids will inherit the money or something.
I doubt anyone's trying to bankrupt kanye, knievel just wants a piece of the action. and why not ? oh ya...he's a prick.
