What is the best Kick Drum?

Post by EvilEvilEvilEvilEvil » Wed Dec 20, 2006 1:03 am

I've been doing a lot of percussion lately. Big percussion, small percussion. We have put some compression on our tracks and MIDI. We have used arpagrrgators.

My assistant and I have tried to find the best kick drum sound, and we think we've narrowed it down to a few good ones. So please let us know which one is right.

A Chuck Norris roundhouse kick upside your girly girl hairdo.

Your answers are questions but your question isn't an answer.

all that stuff is W ack.

all u need for a good KIK is a live chicken, 2 stobe lights, a quart of pigs blood, 1 SM57, and a crowbar. Seriously u can make the best kik sound in the world. It can make any sound as well, from a 808 drop kik, to a basketball sloppy seconds kik...it can do it all!

Matthew Herbert used 2 out of season apples.

i used a strip of craft paper, and pulling it taut.

but my very favorite is just a hand drawn sine wave.

All of the above mixed together with some careful EQing, compression and slight distortion.
