woah, A&H Xone 92 as a midi controller?

Post by dCross » Tue Mar 02, 2004 9:04 pm

Hey All, longtime lurker, firstime poster.

Allen & Heath's new Xone 92 DJ mixer has MIDI implementation. At first, I thought it was only to adjust clock speeds, but I just found out that you can assign certain knobs and sliders on the mixer itself as midi controllers! It's only a few controls, but still, I thought this was pretty cool.

Take a look at their guide to using the Xone with Live: http://www.allen-heath.com/xone/midi_apps_ableton.html

this is an excerpt from an interwiev with richie hawtin:
I'm bringing in this specialized DJ mixer that
has been completely customized.... It's an Allen & Heath mixer, which has
been completely retrofitted by my dad, who is an electrical engineer. So we
added some new technologies: MIDI implementation, new knobs and buttons and
dials so that a mixer which traditionally controls just the audio feeds
controls two G4 laptops.

email me privately may you want the entire interwiev:

yup, for the CTRL mixer, which is a little different, and still unreleased..... But this is a great step in that direction though.

Hi everyone,

Has anyone here actually used the Xone:92 and Ableton set-up?
I have a 92 and am considering entering the Live world and just wanted some feedback to this arrangement?

Cheers.
