Anyone here DJ with in-ear monitoring systems?

Post by Play » Sat Dec 30, 2006 9:09 pm

I'm thinking about getting a system and was hoping for some experienced user feedback from some of my Ableton friends...

I'm tired of my ears hurting every Sunday through Tuesday and I have invested over $250 in custom fit musicians earplugs. I have tried all the different db filters they offer and cant get comfortable using any of them so I always wind up yanking them out. The low frequencies just seem to get way too muffled imo.

So I was wondering about the noise cancelling in-ear systems. I'm thinking they will act as earplugs to the house noise enabling me to monitor at lower volumes without sacraficing any frequency response.

If anyone is using one of these systems. Please share the model you are using and your experiences with it.

Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I use shure e3c.
Exelent !! i never want back to traditional earphones pecially because the great isolation of this earphones, makeme work at low levels on clubs with big audio systems and no turnme deaf/daze
You can listen very clear sound, using very low level of sound on very noise enviroments : )
With traditional systems after very long night, its common have headache, or some daze, after hour of usage.
With this system the experience its new, and i finish the nights little drunk, jijij, but with my ears and my brain very clear and not daze.

Anyway the isolation its absolutly big, so if you need listen some reference from external word, forgot this eraphones, or stay prepared for put inside your ears, and quit your ears everytime you want lsiten the sound outside your eraphones........

NOTE:
With any kind of this earphones, for obtain great bass, you need perfect math of your ear orifice and the earphones......
Usually this take few days of usage, so its common, the first days you listen a little medium sound.
The manual or shure say that, and its absolutly real !

I've been interesting in getting either the M-Audio IE-10 (26dB isolation), or IE-20 (cross-over, low end bass compensation, but only 16dB isolation). And in-ear headphones can't be returned... Is 16dB isolation enough for DJ in-ear monitoring and keeping the high outside sound volumes isolated? Thx, Kent

I've used E2c's before, they worked well. You can keep the volume lower as they do block wuite a bit of sound. Bad side is that they have to be perfectly sealed in your ears to get good bass. So if you have to take them in or out frequently, that could be an issue.

Thanks for your input. i think I may research and look for a set with good bass response and give them a try.
