you guys pay for those downloads or you go to Kazaa??
emusic...I would prefer CDs but emusic is way cheaper (especially since I'm locked in at their old pricing scheme), and doesn't take up space in my apartment.

free recorded music is going to lead to a lot of poorly produced cack put together by wannabe stage divas. i much prefer to pay for good quality recordings put together by people who value the music they produce over whatever is the latest marketing "vision". each to his own I guess.

I've not really found any free netlabels yet that I like the material on. I'm not averse to the whole idea (lets face it does anyone producing techno/house actually make money off a small vinyl record run...it's a labour of love anyway) but I've yet to see evidence of things *really* moving in tha direction.

I guess I'm talking in detroit techno, deep house, electronic disco circles here if anyone wants to suggest some labels.

As it is I buy all my music on vinyl from small local independent record shops.

look, i'm not having a go at Herve' there but I have heard that logic from people around me recently and I find it stupid. if all you had was live performances and no material incentive (no matter how small) to record your music you would not have artists like drexciya, who never performed live and who left behind a body of work that will leave a legacy for many years to come. put that against the legion of little minimal laptop bitches playing to hordes of pill heads in shit clubs around the world...what legacy is that leaving behind? it ain't worth shit. nada, zilch.
