This is a long shot - UK

Post by footslider G » Mon Dec 04, 2006 4:00 pm

Hi All,

As I said this is a long shot.

Anyone on here making music in Shrewsbury (UK) or within a 10 mile radius of this town?

Would like to get to know my local Live users and swap ideas.

cheers

I live in Shrewsbury town centre. That close enough?

Don't know of any Live events locally, but the martians could land at the top of pride hill and it'd take me about a week to notice...

what kind of stuff?

it really depends what mood i'm in.

i'm in a semi-acoustic guitar duo (think Ryan Adams) and that all goes into Lve when we feel like recording. my weirdfolkdronechamberclassicaldub band gets mixed and manipulated in Live. I also do sort of downtempo with some dub some vaguely electro and some vaguely acid stuff. sometimes i stick it all on the one song - which probably makes it triphop? nothing over 110 bpm.

All of it in LIVE 'cos of the fast workflow - i find it really easy to edit in Arrange, i don't know why people need as cubase-style toolbox - and using the session view to get backing tracks up and running.

what sort(s) of music are you involved in?

Hi,

I started out DJing and then decided I wanted to make my own stuff.

My own music that I make tends to be dance orientated mainly techno/electro. Like a lot of styles to DJ with though and used to be a bit of a jazzhead. Make the odd ambient tune now and again too.

I went down the hardware route to begin with and then downsized to just using a mac with LIVE and plug-ins. Now I'm thinking I need to get a controller set up going but need advice on that.

I have an akai MPC2000 which I used to use but now think I could link it to my mac and have fun. Its just how to go about it?

I'd really be interested to hear your stuff. Have you got any gigs in the local area?

I'm trying to get some DJing gigs but finding it difficult to make headway at the moment as all the local yoof seem to have it sewn up!

speak soon
Cheers

I was just searching the forum for Birmingham to see who was doing what. I live there and use Live to make drum and bass. I also DJ drum and bass and we have a nice little mix circle going on that tries to meet at least every fortnight.

I would love to get involved in any Live events but I have not heard of any round Brum and and I'm someone with my ear to ground as I have been involved with the clubbing and music scene for about 5-6 years up here now.

YES 5!!!!

There has to be more than this. I guess I know more than 5 other people in Birmingham that use Live. Maybe actually putting together some sort of Live event would bring more out of the shadows....
