no, didn't ask... just what it says on the pr. i wouldn't even assume they are new features rather than just something they did for him. dunno.

hmmm. with Ableton often saying they do not have vast development rescources to throw around, you must assume any custom version would contain work-in-progress or movement towards a later release.

I couldn't see how a custom version could be viable any other way. Unless Mr Hawton did a Victor Kiam and "bought the company" [70's Remington Shavers tv ad reference] :?

yeah - i doubt a custom version would not have features meant to reach the public. i think this is a pretty cool way to release a new product - or at the least a hell of a tease.

Yep me too!

man, if/when they do that I would consider selling my PC laptop and G3 powerbook and get just one G4 and go fully mac - i much prefer osx, feel more inspired to use the mac and aside from the whole power issue, it's using flstudio as my rewire slave and vsti host is the main thing keeping me on the PC. Everything else I use (except microtonic which is nearly there) is mac too already......

I have a dream that one day I can use all my NI stuff straight into live, with fully stable and working waves and antares plugs - I think I would die that day because I would be ready to enter Nirvana. :D

oh boy, you've just unleashed an unspeakable horror upon yourself.

I would STRONGLY suggest against making fun of Techno/Minimal Techno on an Ableton messageboard :)

not to mention the fact of a) read the first post in this thread and b) the distance between your characterization and a plastikman live pa is, well, rather gargantuan.

using a combination of classic machines and new software to meld old and new material into unique improvised mixes. Working in the studio, Hawtin has experimented with combinations of classic Plastikman material from Musik
yeah - he said that about FS and it was shit

don't get me wrong, i'm a huge plastikman fan (since the richie rich days even) but these days all he does is drop the kick, wait for the crowd, bring the kick back in, DDL out of sync, drop the kick, filter, yadda, yadda, boring, boring, yadda

sorry and all that

Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.
