Ableton & Hercules

Post by Panth » Tue Jan 30, 2007 4:08 pm

Greetings All,

I posted this on the KVR forum & I haven't gotten a response yet, so I thought I'd post it here. If anyone can help me with this I'd really be greatfull:
Hey everyone,

I read the boards often & I thought it was about time I contributed (Or ask a question at least! )

The thing is I really need some help in setting up my Hercules MK2 for DJing with Ableton Live 6.

The Problem is this: I just cannot seem to get the the headphone selection switch on the front of the unit to work correctly. What I need is for "Deck A" to play channel 1, "Deck B" to play channel 2, "Mix" to play both at the same time & "Split" to split the channels left & right.
At the moment "Deck A" & "Deck B" both play channel 1, "Mix" plays channel 2 & "Split" splits them left & right as it should. The most important is for "Mix" to play both at the same time, so I can hear how both tunes sound together before mixing the second tune in. At the moment I'm just using split which isnt ideal.

Ive set the cue to 3/4 & that button next to the headphone volume to cue not solo in Live. I know how to map all the functions to the Hercules so I'm not totally in the dark (Ok, well maybe a little )

If anyone has set theirs up correctly or can help me out I'd much appreciate it. And if anyone knows of a resource for setting it up correctly I could look at that would be great too.

Regards
Panth
Thanks for your time

I have a MK1. I dont know if it works very different.
The herkules driver doesnt work for me so I use Asio4all driver.
Map channel 1 to A (under the slot)
Map channel 2 to b (under the slot)
follow the manual to output prelistening to 3/4
connect Headphones to channel 3/4 on the back of the soundcard.
the front output I believe works only with Herc. Asio driver.
good luck
