My mate set C:\ as the plugins directory on my PC, so Live falls over looking for VST's. So if anyone knows what the preference file is so I can delete it...... that would be ace.
Been looking for hours and it's driving me up the wall!
Cheers
Stevie
Can Someone tell me where the live preference's file is?

Search for *.cfg in your document and settings folder, you will find it in application data/ableton/....
but it will not fix your vst plugin folder problem
you better go in the preferences menu ( ctrl+,) and go in file folder settings.
then set the folder properly.
Live will scan automaticly.

Cheers! I can't actually get into Live to adjust the preferences!blank wrote: but it will not fix your vst plugin folder problem

Once I've trashed the .cfg file then I *should* be able to get back into live to reset the vst folder.

Thanks man! I'll have a look later on. It's 1 of those really simple things, I just couldn't remember, you know?sqook wrote:C:\Documents and Settings\You\Application Data\Ableton\Version Number\Preferences\Preferences.cfg
... where "You" and "Version Number" are obviously specific to your system.

Yes, and it's complicated by the fact that Windows hides the "Application Data" folder by default.MrTiddles wrote:Thanks man! I'll have a look later on.
