PRE-assign clip colours in session view.
PRE-assign clip colours in session view.
For DJs especially [but would come in handy in the studio], the following would be very useful.
The ability to set colours to automatically update, depending on which section the clip is on.
Let me explain...
If Im a DJ and Im doing a set, Ill need to trigger samples. DJs need an intuitive way of dealing with having to trigger samples quickly.
Lets say I had a controller like this:
I could put colour-coded stickers on the buttons in a column, similar to they appear in session view.
When the clip is filled, the sample or midi clip, would automatically be assigned the colour specified. One could quickly make a template for their performance sets, where colours of clips can immediatly be associated with the relevant button on their controller.
PLEASE ABLETON.

Thanks for replying guys.
The way I see it is this:
Lives session view is supposed to be a matrix which allows for a great deal of spontaneity.
If were gonna be triggering samples we dont wanna be mousing around or rotating knobs to move the highlighter!
We wanna press buttons to fire off samples, and we wanna be able to relate those buttons with our "spontanious" with the speed of a quick glance at the screen.

Colour coding really helps the bridge between software and hardware.
I really hope they understand the reasons why we would want to assign colours to clips before they have been filled. Its about consistency. Its about intuition.
When I drag a sample from the browser into a clip, I want it to take on the pre-assigned clip colour, then I can INSTANTLY know what button on my controller triggers it.

and that's a plus 1 from me too!
