Bleeps, Clicks & Creaks

Post by gaijin1717 » Mon Feb 12, 2007 6:06 pm

I am a new Live user and just upgraded from Live Lite 5 to Live 6.0.3. Granted, I am not the most tech-savvy individual, but I thought I had the I/O and latency all set up correctly. Now, however, I'm having trouble whenever I have more than one midi clip and multiple audio clips running. (I didn't have these problems with Live Lite 5) My CPU seems to be overloading. I've checked the minimum system requirements, and while I'm not at the "recommended" level, I am meeting the minimums. Here's what I got:

Mac G4 iBook
1.25 GB ram
1.33 gHz
OSX Panther 10.3.9

M-Audio Fast Track Pro
Axiom 25

I'm shutting down all programs other than Live to give my CPU a break, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I've also upped the buffer/sample rate a ridiculous amount. Any other suggestions?

On a separate note, I would like to figure out how I can get my Korg ESX-1 to feed directly into Live via midi connection. Again, I'm new at all this. I've been reading about master/slave midi, etc., but it all seems a bit too advanced for me. Anyone have good resources for learning more or simple tricks?
