It seems to me that the hard drive speed is a huge factor in Live performance since it's streaming from the HD, could you all start posting your hard drive's rpm?

Make of computer: Apple Powerbook G4
Operating system: Mac OS X 10.1.5
CPU Speed: 400
Soundcard: MOTU 828 with beta driver

Result for test 1: 12

Result for test 2: 46

Lame eh?
That's not counting the hiccups and half second stops that occur every bar or so.
I don't see why Live takes so much cpu. Logic (on OS 9) could do a lot more than that.
Of course it works better using the built-in soundcard. Maybe it's the MOTU driver. But still, performance is lame.

This laptop is going for $1499 and it rocks. Only drawbacks are 1024x768 res and its pretty big and bulky but a great deal.

as you can see performans under OS 9.2.2 is much better than under Jaguar, and what's most strange its not much slower than TiBooks G4 800Mhz ... why is that?

I just cant get over the difference between my old powerbook g3 to my new gateway laptop... UNREAL! combined with the emi 2/6.. this thing is a powerhouse compared to it(with no flaws in os, xp is amazing!).. i highly recommend anyone to go with a p4....:
AND I HAVE PRELISTEN!

Make: Gateway 400x 256megmemory 30gigHD
OS: Windows XP Home
CPU Speed: 2 GHZ P4
Soundcard: EMI 2/6 (added asio line to liveoptions.txt)
Harddrive: 30GB (going to get a firewire soon for all my samples)

Test 1- 5%
Test 2- 25%

Latency is very low.. adjusting is a breeze and depends on how many samples are loaded and how many effects.. i loaded nine samples with three effects on each.(used reverb on four of them)... solid at 12ms...
but if i wanted less latency.. i would have to use less effects, i just wanted to push it to the limit to see how low i can get... on my arrangement test, i was able to get it as low as 6ms with no breakups...

increadible!!!!!!!
