My axiom keeps uninstalling itself
My axiom keeps uninstalling itself
I have an axiom 25 and it rocks. The only real problem is that the damn thing keps uninstalling the drivers. This is a pain in the ass, has any one had any issues like this?

I don't think mine uninstalls the drivers, but if i boot up my laptop and turn on the axiom after windows is already up - it always thinks it needs to install them again. if i hit cancel, it still works fine in live and everything else...
Is that what yours is doing or is it actually uninstalling it? that would be kinda weird

My axiom doesn't even show up in the preferences/ midi area

they are class compliant but on occasion good old XPP will decide to uninstall the usb drivers, and reinstall them on next use. If you don't do a quick power cycle on the axiom when it first starts up Live may not see it.
Its the only issue I have had with this board, I love it

I have an Axiom 49 and the drivers have never given me a problem. However Live 6 will loose it's internal midi assignments for the 49 if I start Live without the 49 turned on. I really have enjoyed my 49 and think it is a great controller.

I've had those problems in the past, but not after I upgraded to the newer 'conflict' drivers. the old driver conflicted with everything and was getting dropped left and right.

i have the same problem, it comes up with a window saying the device has malfunctioned. I have to turn it on and off then reload live, it is annoying the crap out of me. I could find nothing on the m-audio site, except maybe power issue. I have tried updating drivers, resetting the axiom, and adding power but nothing has permanently worked. I find that if i push ahead anyway, it still does what i want but it is annoying to have to keep setting the midi options in live. I have taken it back to the shop. They got it going again when it first did it , to send it to m-audio in Australia will take ages, i would likely be without a keyboard for 2 months or so! Support is basically nonexistent here, i have had no replies from emails, i guess i will have to email them in the states. It is a shame, because when it works, the board is incredible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I dunno about on windows (although I also thought it was still ccomp there too) but on mac it is for sure.smutek wrote:Interesting. I'm buying one of these next week (the 49).

Er, I'm on my 3rd unit........maudio had been great so far in trying to take care of me......BUT, they have not been reliable........then again, what is these days?...........
since sp2 I have some usb probs related to windows xp
the exact same you have with the axiom but with other usb devices.
Everytime you change the device usb port, windows is fucked and reinstall the whole package.
Its mainly caused by the plug and play service, since I have shutted this down
( run - services.msc - disable) my probs disapear and all is fine since 3 months.
Another good idea is to not using the windows universal drivers that is often show as usb audio/midi peripherals instead of the device name. It looks like apps become sometimes confused ( live and many others like renoise and ect) with those drivers.
I know M audio drivers are krap, they did proove it many times on many products but they still less sucky than the windows one.
hope it will helps
