Live 7 is scheduled for release in February 2008.
It will come with:
7 gigs of velocity sampled farmyard animals, including sheep cattle and 6 breeds of pig.
A free monophonic version of Operator, called "O"
A free monophonic version of Sampler, called "ample"
A new improved GUI with a choice of leopard skin or jungle
A built in VJ plugin called "VJ plugin"
A new version of Beat Repeat called "Beat Beat Repeat Repeat"
A new vocoder tool, called "vocoder" which will cost an extra 100 dollars.
4 gigs of percussion loops including "Robert henke hitting pen on table" and "Torsten Slama clicking mouse"
Best of all they will have a slice tool and the icon will be .. a scissors.

Fuck, it better not be. May wallet hasn't recovered from 6 yet.
Ableton updates too quickly, too costly and too little. 6 is just 5 with a few patched features and a load of shitty built in gear that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. The EQs, compressor and reverb in Live are so poor that even the free VST equivalent is considerably better.
However, I do love Live and for composition, nothing is better Oh, and lets not forget Djing.

No point really in trying to guess, who saw racks or Liveclips coming for instance?
On their past form "multi-lane automation" is exactly as likely as "fm modulate all audio tracks by each other", or some sort of bloody vinyl timecode product!
as you say they are very secretive, I quite like it.
One thing I would say is that they aren't very good at explaining the benefits of the new items when they do arrive. Racks and Liveclips feature massively in the way I work now. But it took me a while to figure out how exactly to make use of them.
I have folders of liveclips with sequenced drums, chord vamps, or VSTi bassline variations all with parameter and effects automation, which are great for just dropping into jams. I wonder how many people use these new things fully.
