curiouser and curiouser....

maybe there will be a new plug-in called "maxulator" - it actually refers to what it will do to your credit card

Cycling74 of course brings the freedom to customize and build whatever
you want. Oh the anticipation...
seriosuly, i've only had feeble attempts at max/msp, but have seen many amazing things done with it, that it's always made me want to come back and really get a grip on it...

hopefully the 2 companies can really blend their technologies together and still have it very user friendly, for anyone who has never seen either software...
the best way to learn max is to set yourself a goal, a little project you want to achieve with it. start to figure what you need to learn in max to do that step by step and go for it...

if you read the manual, accumulate knowledge and do nothing with it, you brain will say, "why on earth do i need to remember all that?"

on another note i think this new chapter for live, max, and possible the lemur is going to rock!

I was in the process of buying Max/MSP when I heard about this. Wonder if I should hold off til I find out what this news will yield. Any thoughts?

Can't imagine that the product they're working on is likely to come out for a year and I would assume that it wouldn't be a directly competing product to MAX/MSP or Live. If you have a use for MAX/MSP then I'd buy it now.

From here:

Stefan Franke wrote:An old friend of ours recently made a VST plug (PC only) that can be freely

The people at meso use it to add timeline-based control their wonderful real
time video synthesis engine called vvvv.

Have a look here:

Didn't someone (Amo?) write a video plug-in for Live 5,
(found it)
http://www.groc.org/movieplayer/
then we got it in Live 6? This one has video control too. I don't know Max, does this shed new light on the announcement? Did they just port this to Mac and UB and put a GUI interface on it?

SO... one of you needs to write a Slicer VST that works within Live so we can get it in Live 8. And some midi tools, and... that's a whole 'nother forum.

isn't it possible that this is an april fools joke too? I've already heard about the reason one and the moogerfooger one.. couldn't this live 74 thing also be a joke?
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

pretty dull joke - maybe if they said they were dropping OSX and Windows in favour of Amiga, but this is too close to reality to be a joke I think

plus as one of the other "campers" said earlier, we met a couple of the C74 guys there, I guess that was a subtle hint which was missed at the time
