perhaps theres less cpu/ram requirements for the dexter's internal workings...could that make a significant impact on price ?

The fact that it's apparently a locked-in system could mean that they were able to skimp on its abilities a little.

if the price is over $500 less than a lemur, i would think something is wrong with their pricing structure for the consumer.

the logic im using for that is that a top of the line ARM or XSCALE processor with stacks of memory wouldn't inflate the full blown lemur's price by more than that.

I just came across this dexter news. all i can say if it makes my lemur obsolete, ill be very unhappy.

im just hoping the lemur can do what it does.

on another note, the cycling 74 and ableton pair up means awesome news for lemur owners. cant wait to see what happens here.

Fellow Lemurites,

First of all, let me apologize for our general silence these last days. As you've probably guessed, we've been overwhelmed by our preparation and presence at the MusikMesse.

Some of you have expressed uncertainty regarding the Lemur's future now that the wrap over Dexter has been taken off. We'll provide all the information about this product as soon as we get back from Frankfurt - which is tomorrow by the way - so we ask for just a little bit more patience.

Just know that we have absolutely no intention to let go of the Lemur's development, and that you'll see pretty cool updates coming this year to prove that. Dexter is not taking over the Lemur, and the Lemur is not taking over Dexter. Both of them have their uses and their completely different goals.
Expect some details about compatibility between the two products very soon, to clear out all the rumours that have been going wild lately.

Thanks for your support and interest, and our kindest frankfurtest regards to all of you,

Axel

"By the end of the year, an upgrade to the Lemur controller's firmware will enable the device to boot either on the Dexter or Lemur Operating System, to keep Lemur customers at the top-end of controlling possibilities. Conditions for the upgrade to be announced."
