Live 6 master sound is automatically compressed?

Post by brms » Wed Mar 21, 2007 1:05 am

Hello!
Since I own Live 6, I have noticed that my master mix sound gets really compressed when it gets loud. While I obviously don't have any compressor loaded. It sounds really ugly, not a good compressor. Sounds like a portable sony mididisc recording or something. I didn't notice this with Live 5.
It would probably be quite okay for live playing, but not for mixing/mastering.
Anyone recognizes this?
Thanks

Hi,

Isn't it that the level of the Master track is too high, and the signal is clipping?

Pull down the Master fader until it does not clip.

that would be my guess, too.

Clipping = possibly the worst compression

but still not the sound of a minidisc...
