Loved 'em from the first time I heard 'Surfer Rosa' and saw them live back in '90 (?) when they played 2 songs before the stage collapsed! :)

As to other US alt bands props have to go to the likes of: Big Black, Mudhoney, Husker Du, Fugazi, Sonic Youth & Butthole Surfers....along to the likes of Replacements, Mission Of Burma and Minor Threat amongst many others. Prior to the money that flooded in post Nirvana the whole alt 'scene', for want of a better term, had the most awesome DIY ethic.....good days indeed 8)

Yeah Pixies were superb (I saw them in Manchester supported by My Bloody Valentine - MBV blew The Pixies off the stage would you believe, and the Pixies were amazing).

Also love The Breeders. :)

i got the first 3 albums on vinyl, saw them with throwing muses at glastonbury in 1989 when doolittle was out. i dont listen to them much now, though sometimes i dip back into them and remind myself how great they are.
those 3 lps are prized possessions

Hi, I know a producer that worked on that film who currently produces reality television. Nice observation!

The Pixies are awesome, though like a lot of people, I don't think I ever need to listen to Doolittle again in my life. I've heard it so many times that I think I could play it in my mind from start to finish.

I heard Lou Barlow rejoined DJR because everybody involved needed money asap. Apparently Mascis is only paying the other two like $200 a show, though, because he's a dick.

yeah I saw them at V last week, they exceeded my highest expectations and then some. Also Groove Armada, petshop boys and soul wax were my favourite acts on the night.

Have heard several tracks from new Dinosaur Jnr album, and I think they have done well. Always a worry when a great band reforms after a hiatus. Good to see J Mascis & Lou Barlow are able to work together again and still produce some great stuff in their older years.

Same here. I think the Pixies are my favorite rock band ever, absolutely amazing. Lately I've been rocking out to Tromp Le Monde, current favs are "the Sad Punk" and "Alec Eifel". Frank Black has an incredible vocal range.

I'd be really hard pressed to pick if I had to choose a favorite Pixies track - I'd have probably 10 or 20. They are just that good. Their stuff is timeless, they never get old to me.

Yeah, most definitely my fav rock band.

On a seperate note, anyone heard the album "Only Life" by the Feelies? One of my absolute all time favorites forever! I don't know man, maybe it's nostalgia or something, but this album always puts a smile on my face. Reminds me of warm happy summers and being a punk skateboarder kid in highschool with a crush on my substitute art teacher... ha ha! Apparently it's out of print, but check it out if you can find it.

Same late 80's early 90's alt rock post punk whatever genre as the Pixies, not the same sound, but it gives me the same sort of feelings I get when listening to the Pixies.
