Electro-disco-funk?
I'm with ya on this one. When I first started DJing it was all about the old school funk and disco, more funk than disco. I refuse to play Village People. You just can't help but be happy when you hear these old funk classics. Whatever happened to music that both made you dance and put a smile on your face. I guess that's for another rant.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned the obvious here, Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx. Neither of them write straight funk albums but some of their songs are the funkiest I've heard in electronic music.
Also check out Mike Monday. He does some pretty funky stuff. Check out his cover/remix of White Horse on beatport.com. It's sick.
I keep seeing the genre Future Funk but who does it and what exactly it is eludes me.

I dunno, dude...I remember being a total cheezeball in college and having an all-night session with some skank with Enigma on repeat on the CD player. Not only do I LOL when I think about that session, I would even venture to say that if anyone has Enigma deep within their soul, they need to be put out of their misery. It's a biological thing.
