Mike thanks for the props!!!!!

Okay Great News!!!!

I'm back from the dead from having some fucking virus for a week and I have secured Le Petit Dejeuner as venue for "broadcast's" inaugural monthly beginning Mar23 10 PM at LPD... Went there tonight to check out a private party with DJ's to see the set up... It is doable for Live Pa but not as I had hoped for....

My ideal setup would be a table big enough for 2 performers where we could fade the mixr between the two not so... We will be restricted to a 2'x6' (for you metric guys 2 ft x 6ft) table so one performer at a time with an MP3 as a backing track for intermission... Sucks but hey what can you do... The place has a nice ambiance not too big not too small... I'd rather fill a smal space than a huge cavern... Example Will Munro's Beaver Cafe Queen West, place about the same size LPD or smaller and that place gets packed... I know there are some concerns about size well lets not worry about it if we can pack it out we can look for greener pastures...Just think where else in Toronto is someone offering a Live PA monthly... Hmmm I can't think of anyone?

Technical details: Performance space is in the front window with adequate space to store some gear. Extra gear can most likely be stored in the kitchen or some other secure locale just remember you are restricted to a 2ft x 6ft table so huge modulars are out of the question... It would be nice to have setup and tear down times of 10 - 20 mins... Acoustics: there is PA with mon sends from the perfromance area and monitor hanging from the ceiling and one at the back of the house... The sound was okay but I think that renting a powered sub would round things out better...

Inaugural Night Performers:

Gorf - from EM411 I sent him an email yet to hear a reply..

Rajcoont - from the Ableton board he is the one that caused me to get this started so thank that mofo when you meet him...He has confirmed to play...

vveerrgg - from this board I sent him an email yet to hear a reply..

I know there were other offers to play but you will have to wait till next month as you noticed I'm not playing either but come out and represent...

Each night will consist of 3 performers from 10 PM - 2AM if we can cut down setup times we could squeeze in 4 but for the first night I don't want to push it.

I am working on an e-flyer and should have it done this week and posted at http://www.cosmosuave.com/broadcast.htm

If you think this is worth posting on any other boards feel free to do so if you think people are interested I don't want this to come off as spam...

No cover and for performers contact me personally about just rewards and Aeroplan Miles...

As only being a member here I would like to say thanks for your interest in this endeavour....

Hi all,

I'm not sure why I didn't sign up to this forum sooner. I'm not the most avid user of Live but I sure am a fan.

:)

Anyway, I will be there that night. I also just found out that an ex-coworker of mine will be our bartender for the evening.

Wee!

I'm excited!

|||broadcast March 23 @ LPD|||

Post by cosmosuave » Sun Mar 18, 2007 9:41 pm

broadcast is a monthly live pa / laptop event featuring various Toronto
and out of town musicians looking to express themselves and showcase their music.

This event takes place every 4th Friday of the month beginning at 10pm at
Petit Dejeuner located at 191 King St. E.

cosmosuave presents Friday March 23 broadcast's inaugural night in the
comfy confines of Le Petit Dejeuner. Come join us for a drink and an
evening of live pa's commencing at 10pm with the following artists...

http://www.cosmosuave.com/broadcast.htm

Burnt Circuit - Signal Records// Audio Research Labs Inc. //
http://www.myspace.com/perceptrons

Burnt Circuit hails out of the industrious metal town known as the
Hammer... On this night Burnt Circuit will be bringing to the table an all
hardware assault of hard techno and acid to start off the night.

Gorf - Here's My Card Records
http://www.gorfed.net
http://www.heresmycardrecords.com
http://www.denseware.com

Michael McArthur (aka gorf) is a local multidisciplinary artist who has
been actively producing various types of electronica since 2003. Gorf's
music tends to vary from track to track, though there is always the
underlying presence of some kind of IDM. His music is very progressive in
the sense that it seems to build out of itself, a construction of sound if
you will. He is inspired by everything around him - the many spontaneous
interactions of all forms that come with life.

Gorf has given away numerous self-released CDs which all available to
download on his website. He has also appeared on Here's My Card Records. A label based out of Toronto that features many local musicians that span
over a variety of styles. Recently, he and his collaborative partner
pocketroot released a four track EP under the name Denseware , also
available for free on the internet.

knowing looks - grain records/musique risquee
http://www.myspace.com/knowinglooks
http://www.grainrecords.com

The Knowing Looks aesthetic is to meld the structures of microhouse with
songs and records that have affected me in both good and bad ways. Far
removed from the quick gimmick and novelty of 'ironic' mash ups, it's
about using the influences of a lifetime obsession with music and crate digging to create songs that bears little resemblance to the original samples they come from, but still tries to tip a hat to the originators in some way.

Knowing Looks runs a record label called grain and have a release coming
out on akufen's musique risquee this year, so If you're putting labels
beside the artist name's you can tack those two onto mine.

Hope to see some of you guys out on Friday...

Thanks...

||||broadcast episode#2 Roll Call Toronto||||

Post by cosmosuave » Wed Apr 04, 2007 11:05 pm

Okay episode#2 of broadcast is in the works for Fri Apr 27... Currently I am looking for 2 performers for the night I already have one confirmed... This will take place once again at LPD (le Petit Dejeuner) 191 King St. E Toronto.... The owner was quite pleased with the first event and would like to see it grow and so would I ...

Details ...

The night starts around 10/10:30-2:00 with 3 performers with about a 60min set with 20min for setup/teardown depends on amount of gear...

Gear space is limited to a 2'x6' (ft) table if you are crafty with wood and make some stands for gear you can utilize more space...

There is a Pa and I will add a sub from L&M for the night.

Performers will get 3 drink tickets each no $$$ as of yet until we can get people filling the space...

Speaking of space LPD is about the same size as Toi bar but with a few more tables...

If interested in playing please respond to bstone@cosmosuave.com

Also if interested in playing I require the following...

Bio/website/links to your music... If you have no website no big deal but bio and music links are a must...

Thanks...

Brian aka cosmosuave

P.S. I had recordings and pics of broadcast ep#1 but somehow deleted the folder they were in this won't happen this time...
