Hi,
I have bought the Live! Hammerfall Bundle but I have some problems. I want to assign my 8 Live! tracks to my 8 analog mono outputs to play my 8 loops on my 8 analog outputs. It seems impossible. When I select the Hammerfall outputs in Live!, I can choose stereo channels only (ex. AN 1+2 , AN 2+3...). Can Live! work with mono tracks? Can Live! assign his stereo track to one mono output?
Now I'm using a Rewire Master application (Nuendo) with Live! as slave: I assign the single rewire tracks to the single mono channels..I think my CPU doesn't like this method...I tried also to assign one track as "left" using outputs 1+2,and make the other "right" using outputs 1+2 but the result is not appreciable. Has someone some suggestion?
Thanks
Antonio

Dont know about the hammerfall but on my motu828mk2 by unlinking (at the motu) the outs Ableton sees all I/O as independent monos. So a stereo track sees some 'pair' which I can select.

At the bottom right, click on the little "Buss" icon and unlink the stereo channels to mono that you want. Then they will show up individually in your ins/outs for RME (or whatever)

Just to add when you highlight the buss button, the help-box will say "buss view chooser" - Thought I'd mention it because I had the problem of finding this too!!
Seems a common thing to new Live users - Guess we should read manuals a bit more often huh?

I read the manual:
Page 75 - Chapter 2.15.2 - Running Live in Rewire Slave Mode
Can you confirm this data, my dear policeman???
I read all the Live! manual and nothing about mono outputs is reviewed.
If you have some suggestion you can send me the manual's pages.
Thanks

antonio,
pan. that is the solution. your RME paired outs are stereo L/R. so to send a clip out on just RME out 3, pan it hard left (can be a stereo or mono source track) and choose the 3/4 out as destination. For the track going out on channel 4, pan hard right. Depending on how you are monitoring all of these 8 outs, you may want to use your RME totalmix software to make the out panned center instead of hard left and right (or maybe not). you get it now, right?

This is a solution is not a good solution. I think Ableton has to consider this problem seriously...
Thanks

sorry, do you have something better? This is not a problem, its simple hardware functionality--programs like Sonar and Cubase don't have options to out on a single hardware channel, so you can't blame Live or call it a "problem". My solution is a perfectly good one. Feel free not to use it and come up with something better, or elaborate on why this solution isn't good, or, for that matter, why you are trying to port 8 seperate channels out of live--going to a mixer--if so why? And if so, my solution would work perfectly.

Ableton Live! cannot assign the tracks to MONO outputs. We can switch the stereo input in 2 mono inputs but we cannot do the same with the outputs. This is an Ableton's problem. I LOVE Live!, I think it's the best audio software of the last 10 years...I think this feature could increase its value.

it is not a problem at all. Not abletons, not RME, it is the same across the board for all soundcards and apps I know of-- someone feel free to name music software that lets you out on a single hardware out. They don't because 99% of the time people want stereo outs, and the antonios of the world that want to out in mono need to pan hard to get mono signal--c'mon tony, its not that hard.
