Yeah, either vote for your neighnour or vote for your own country, if you live abroad. Does anyone actually vote for a country based on the musical merits of the performance or the quality of the song?

Ach, don't be such a snob. it's just a bit of fun. Once you enter into the spirit of things you can enjoy europop for its trash value and cheesy spectacle. C'mon, the Ukraine entry was crazygreat, not taking it too seriously. And anyone who can get a song as hilarious as 'Vampires are Alive' into the competition deserves some credit.

Mind you, the UK entry was once again total shite. Funny how a country with such a big music industry can't put together a decent eurovision entry.

The voting system is a bit flawed though, but then Serbia won even with the Turkish diaspora voting big time for their homeland.

But if you don't like the music, you could always try and get one of your songs into the competition...anything goes these days, so I challenge you!

It was a nice idea but after a while it seemed to be a bit monotonous. There could have been a bit more pizazz with a big band sound...

Musically I think that Hungary was the best of the bunch, although not cheezy enogh to be in the Eurovision song contest and succeed. Finland also had a good song. Good rock. Sweden's The Ark had potential as musicians, but the song they chose was too much trying to be like a Eurovision song. Them trying to please everybody was too obvious.

i think there are 2 reasons, firstly great songs don't win this compotition and secondly anybody half decent is scared to enter becasue they fear there career will be finished 8O
don't get me wrong Red i thoroughly enjoyed the show, haven't laughed so much for ages :D

Yes I know that is a fear...

But then Lordi won, and they were...ahem...huge

Incidentally, I live in Lordi's home town - they renamed the town square 'Lordi Square'. There is also a Lordi restaurant! Kind of desperate really...

I saw on tv yesterday that there is also Lordi Coke, Lordi sweets, Lordi everything...

btw, how is the ESC presented in your countries ?
They have a new pre- and after-show in germany since last year.
A gay comedian invites his gay friends to simply talk about the show.
BIG FUN ! :D

In England Terry Wogan presents the show, he's done it for ever.
And when the votes are coming in from the different countries he predicts how they will vote because of location and political ties with other countries,
and he normaly gets it spot on.
It's hilarious

The Finnish presenters were really slagging off the UK entry - quite funny. But the best was that they had this fake presenter who is a comedian - Krisse I think her name is. I don't know if they showed her on the international feeds - she was wearing a big frilly pink dress. I've never heard her work in Englsh before but she was pretty funny and sarcastic.
