in all my years, I've never heard a live band play music like that before.

the drummer was not playing to a click, as far as I could tell. he and the bassist were locked in an amazing, relentless syncopation. the guitarist just always did the right thing... even if it meant picking up a second bass or a third synth...I think it was one of the guys from Hot Chip. the woman playing keys and singing back-up just fleshed everything out wonderfully. and James Murphy was just the captain of the ship. fully in charge, and leading his troops into complete musical bliss.

wow.

hat's off!

Just saw these guys a week or two ago in vancouver. It made me want an analog synth.

These guys are musically extremely simple, but the shows are a hell of a lot of fun, and the sound is great.

It's simple, yeah. I mean, they're kinda the kings of the one chord song in a lot of ways.

But if you ask me, there is nothing simple about what this band does. Pulling off live disco is one trick... pulling off live disco that creates its own rules of what disco is and what disco can potentially be is something else entirely.

"Someone Great" is one of the most fuckin' rad tracks I've heard in a long time. Wish I'd have seen them here in the city.
