snap, crackle and pop

I'm experiencing a lot of crackle on playback.
It goes away when I stop using the AU reverb & graphic EQ plugins.

Weird.

I would stop using those plugins but ironically, they seem to use the least amount of CPU. Ableton reverb is a hog.

Crackle happens even when samples are set to RAM, only a few tracks are going and CPU is down around 5%.

Anyone have any ideas??

are you using 10.9? this causes problems for various plugins. I get cracks with a few plugs (some smart electronix plugs).

I just installed Live 4 from the Korg Creative Kontrol pack V.2. The sound in the first demo song is crackling and popping, I thought that it might even freeze the computer at one point. Not a very good introduction to a product I'm not familiar with.

I am running 10.4.9 on a MacBook 2GZ core duo.

Any ideas/fixes for this?

Hello,

Live 4 is not Universal Binary, so it does not run natively on an Intel Mac, ut emulated through Rosetta, which gives the very poor performances you experiences.

You can upgrade your Live lite version to Live lite 6 Korg edition here:

i've tried a bunch and it doesn't seem to make any difference. right now i've settled on 220.

I would try using an external hard drive if you have one available.

I can't use live with the internal hard disk on my macbook pro - it's just too slow. Virtually anyone who does multi-tracking should be using a separate drive for their audio anyway - it just speeds up read times in general.

That' the last piece of advice I can give. I use a firewire g-drive to store all wav/aiff files. It allows me to get latencies as low as 5ms.

Even if you have 1 clip that is 1 bar long?

I don't work off stored clips. I record extremely short clips, live onstage.

However, I've started getting the crackle even when there are NO loaded clips at all - a blank set and just monitoring through an armed track.

If I turn off AU plugins, crackle goes away.
