Mac Mini's dead?
Mac Mini's dead?
I read this today on Appleinsider while I was going to buy one...
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07 ... _mini.html
Do you think it can happen or they are only speculating?

the mini makes a lot of sense for Apple. it costs nothing to manufacture and it provides them with a way to unload old chip stock. it will probably always be a generation or two behind on CPU but i don't think they would abandon it altogether. all the big PC companies have a similar low end model to unload the old chips as well. they have to get rid of them somehow. i love my mini. it replaced my dual g5!

I would have to agree about the "unloading or old chip stock" theory. The Mini is the easiest to upgrade to C2D but yet it hasn't reach it yet. Apple is either redesigning the case or waiting out the CD stock or both.
I would also imagine that they are going to redesign the logic board to have the chip soldered on.

What is that? A .38?
38, 39, whatever it takes.

Well, I'm going to hold until 11th June....we'll see.
I'd love to have one because of so much power into a small space..

i hope they dont discontinue, and instead they update to 64bit chips.
macmini = super awesome renderfarm.. 12 of them fill in the space on a rack
very nicely. and you can just buy more and add them on.
hey gomi, totally hijacking this thread for a moment here but; please convince me to buy a Lemur! i've come close to taking the plunge twice in the past year but i keep bailing out, especially after they announced the Dexter. i'm familiar with your band and i'd like to hear how you guys are using it. tell me something awesome! PM me if you get a chance. thanks!
