Operator vs Massive

Post by Pantytec » Thu Jun 07, 2007 12:22 am

Ok, I know we're talking apples and shoelaces here but I cannot make a bassline or really any sound i'm happy with in Operator. How much more tits is Massive than Operator? I know it's a CPU hog and all but I would like some feedback on Massive if you will?

Also, when installing Massive am I able to see it under the dropdown in my File Browser under Instruments? And then select from there? Because the Battery demo never did this for me? Or is Ableton's own instruments the ownly ones that can sit under Instruments? I don't have a clue since i'm not running any other VST softsynths. Just a few 3rd party plugins..

let me know friends!! :)

oops, after reading that. I didn't mean to say i cannot get my way around Operator, just it take a ton of work. Its cool and all, but I wish I had some bass presets to work with. Is there such a thing? Operator presets?

Massive is the shit. By far the best sounding plugin instrument I've ever used, but take my opinion with a grain of salt, as I'm just a hobbyist.

not to start a thread about the latest greatest softsynth out there, but have you looked into Synleth1 by lennardigital? easily one of the best synths in years. Plus the way they generate their oscillators ensures a fabulous low end sound, which will help you make all the bases you want.

I think you might find a few presets at http://www.thecovertoperators.org/wp-co ... atches.ZIP , but I could be mistaken...

;)

also, if you like those, do yourself a favor and get Surgical Tools and Soundwrecks...both those have even better Operator presets (although Surgical Tools are specifically for Operator). There's also an older Livepack by Puremagnetik.com which is excellent. And there's also the Trackteam guys.

Why does cheeseball shit sometimes like that make my hairstand up on my arms sometimes. god damnit :x

yeah, it really does sound real. Not like a Juno 60 real, but real as in like a Triton or something.

Massive sounds really good, to me

Operator is cool but strikes me as a bit narrower

This is most definitely NOT an expert opinion

I've played with the demo for a bit, and will be purchasing in a few weeks...having owned both a Juno 60 and a Virus C, I can honestly say that Sylenth1 will happily retire both.
