Heliophobia - Nice beats, that offtune synth is amazing, I love that. Good use of filters later. I really like this - short and sweet.
Pyrophobia - Very Peter Gabriel kind of intro. Nice and atmospheric. I like the darkness you've kind of created.
Leukophobia - Beautiful intro. This reminds me a lot of Today is the Day (a mad experimental metal band from Texas) and Mike Oldfield for some reason. That guitar is sumptuous (was that played?)
Sorry - my connection is really slow at the minute.

I like this stuff a lot, especially Leukophobia, Noctiphobia, and Oneirophopbia.
Are you playing all the guitar on these?
Is there anyway I can get wav versions of these for DJing with?

Yeah, I'd be happy to have you play them out, check your PM!
Yes, any guitars you hear were played by me, and any voices or incidental noises are from my own field recordings.
Polyslax you've reminded me I have to go in the shed tomorrow and sample some things.
My father brought home this chunk of propane tank that a colleage of his cut up (they work for calor so know how to do this safely - dont do that at home
) and I hit it with a hammer and his got this great sound. Hope the minidisc still works.
Yeah I'll have to try and listen to the others of these tracks... my internet/broadband provider is getting a bit lame at the moment.

Sounds cool, drop us a line when you get that going!downfader wrote:Polyslax you've reminded me I have to go in the shed tomorrow and sample some things. My father brought home this chunk of propane tank that a colleage of his cut up (they work for calor so know how to do this safely - dont do that at home

I've been into recording found sounds for quite a while and some of the stuff in my tracks come from old tape recordings I made... dubious quality but once you eq them into place they can work pretty well.
Ahhh cheers for reminding me, I have an old dictaphone on the shelf behind me.polyslax wrote:Sounds cool, drop us a line when you get that going!downfader wrote:Polyslax you've reminded me I have to go in the shed tomorrow and sample some things. My father brought home this chunk of propane tank that a colleage of his cut up (they work for calor so know how to do this safely - dont do that at home

This morning's adventures...
Large platic water bottle - tapped, drummed, blown.
Wooden stir sticks - tapped, rubbed together.
Various items being dragged across concrete.
Bicycle pump, well, pumping air.
Large plastic bottle filled with soap - tapped.
It's rare now that I don't have some type of recorded sound in a track... great for adding unusual atmospheres.
Well rather annoyingly the dictaphone needs a new tape.
Couldnt be a***ed with that so got the MD out and the joe meek... only to find the MD battery is dead as a dodo.
Oh well, works via the psu ok so will have to try that.
Been playing with impulse to load up my old samples and have made a quirky synthpop thing as a result. Bit of a pain to program though.
I work in hospital catering. I always thought that some of the sounds there are ripe for sampling, and I'm always banging out rhythms on things (much to the annoyance of the others that work there)

Cool! I was actually in the hospital on the weekend visiting my dad (not so cool) and thought wow, I need to bring a handheld in here next time. I recently flipped it on in the dentist's reception area while waiting for my daughter and caught tons of beautiful stuff, and all with the cheesy piped-in music running in the back!downfader wrote:I work in hospital catering. Your phobias don't sound so painful ! Nice work and moods. I like the mix of guitar and field recorded sounds.
