Sidechain Compression in Mac

Post by teknobryan » Tue Jul 03, 2007 2:36 pm

I have researched this and it appears that the only options are DualComp (which sucks) or Reaktor.

You have got to be f***ing kidding me that there are no real choices for sidechain compression for the Mac!!!

Slim Slow Slider C3 doesn't have external sidechaining.

Well there is another sidechain compressor if you have an open mind about it..

Automat 1.0!

Takes line-in audio as a sidechain signal and you can send midi notes to it.
So you can basically use it as a note triggered ADSR envelope.

Not your traditional sidechain compressor, but it works.

sonalksis offer one.
And if you have massive you can set up the patches to duck to your on tastes on the beat (or whatever else you like). Theres also that autopan cheat, but its not the best.

The Sonalksis one does not work in Ableton.

How about Sonalksis CQ1 Multi-band Compander?

Will this do sidechain the same way as SV-315 or is it a different type of sidechain?

wow, only $280! However that doesn't do external sidechain either.

Damn, you would have thought some software developer would have come out with a cheapish (~$50) sidechain compressor for the Mac by now.

Please elaborate. Did you try the demo? It comes in all AU/VST and PC native formats. According to that, should work just fine with Ableton.

well I'm on my PC right now and did try it and it didn't work. After reading through the forum here it looks like an OLDER version of the plugin did work, but not the current version.

I didn't say CQ1 does external sidechain. I asked if it does. It has a sidechain but I'm not sure if it's external or not. Anyone know?

because you're and ass and can't read minds correctly I guess... I dunno

I DID try google. I also tried searching this forum. You try and google "sidechain compressor mac" and see what you find. (Teragon's dualcomp doesn't count, it sucks)
