I might suggest you watch the first segment of this, discusses the ancient roots and similarities of religions throughout the ages. I'm on the second segment, dunno if you'd dig it.

after watching 20 minutes of this (the first nine of wich was pictures of war)
i came to the conclusion that this is nothing more than badly researched atheist propaganda.
also all the wonder full pictures that where shown and symbolism had to do with the catholic religion which is a far stretch from the true Christian religion

another thing i noticed he never tells you where he gets his information from.

Been listening to this, watching here and there.

Enough with the shock video, too much use of 9/11 video, atrocities, I get it, I don't need to be beat over the head with shock.

Opening bit about us being lied to is a bit much. Chrisitans truly believe that stuff, we're not being lied to, we're being led by the insane believers of the invisible boogey man in the sky. You have to know you're being misleading to lie.

Interesting bit about the sun being the source of mythology across the ages. Makes sense. With the word play (M for names of analogous Moses figures) I'd like to learn more about the language connections. I do get that as one culture goes to war/takes over/absorbs another culture they take the subservant culture's mythology and blends it with their own, it subdues the masses and makes the new culture easier to swallow. Opiate of the people.

OK, now it's another 9/11 shockumentary.

Why, why, why??? This is lame, why take a perfectly good start debunking religion and get into 9/11?? IMO we could have video of Bush and Bin Laden discussing the WTC attacks with speaches, Lego models and interpretive dance with the DVD signed by both of them and a notary public and it would not matter. We need to be proactive about today. 9/11 conspiracies are just farting in the wind. I buy into them but I don't see the point.

I'll watch the rest waiting for a tie into religion, I fear it's only going to be "they lie about religion, they lie about 9/11". ho hum...

The portions on religion were VERY interesting and well done. Much of these types of movies need to be taken with a grain of salt, but this one was well put together and very convincing.

I don't feel that the movie ties these thing together, and it isn't it's meaning.

Zeitgeist was created as a not for profit expression to inspire people to start looking at the world
from a more critical perspective and to understand that very often things are not what the
population at large think they are.

I fell it's more of a declaration that something is wrong in the world, thus the title Zeitgeist.

So the movie is a rant. I await his next one telling us how much the Simpsons suck or that Live doesn't support time signature changes.

IMO it was edited great, nice music, shocking video (which I guess you'd call effective because it got my attention), nicely narrated, but too disjointed. I guess I was bummed when they did the bait and switch routine between the history of religion and another freaking 9/11 conspiracy movie.

good to see so much passionate discussion about this.

the film isn't perfect, but i really do respect what these people are trying to do.

also: the commentary about 'controlled demolitions' IS a part of the original footage being shown. it's really really hard to find, but it's real. many people's first impressions were that someone (most likely they assumed it was the 'terrorists' at the time) had planted explosives in the buildings.

9/11 was definitely an inside job. totally unsurprising. it's been declassified that most of the incidents that sparked public support of modern wars are false flag operations.

go look up the gulf of tonkin incident if you don't believe me. my girlfriend's country was totally destroyed because of this outrageous lie so i took a special interest in thsi incident. you can even check the CIA's own files where they brag about it. it's totally disgusting.

anyway, believe what you want, but if you're going to go around attacking others for their beliefs, please do your homework first.

ok just a simple question, the planes. Who flew them into the buildings, the pilots, the cia? Who was behind the act of actualy flying the planes into the buildings?

btw homework on this does not consist in reading conspiracy websites, that would be like doing biology on a creationists website.
