LOUD feedback noise

Hello.

I'm rather new to Ableton, I have the latest version 6.0.7.

Sometimes, I get this loud feedback just when I'm arming a track for recording. And I don't even have anything selected or connected that could cause this (my mic or something).

If I turn the monitor on 'off' I'm able to record with no feedback, but this feedback comes on when I have it on 'on' or 'auto'.

Does anyone know how to fix this or is this a bug?

are you recording with a microphone or from a line-input?

As I managed to find out what was causing this.

I was using another wave recording program earlier and it was set to record "what you hear" and thus that's the same thing Ableton uses and thus creates the feedback.

I just went back to the other program and checked the microphone option.

Problem solved.
