A strange problem

Post by Amblehn » Fri Jul 27, 2007 7:47 am

Yesterday I was mocking around trying to make a sound similar to the distorted one that Justice uses.

I had a midichannel wiith V-station in an instrument rack and then I applied the VST-plug OtiumFX Sonitex for distortion on that instrument rack. The sound was rather dull and I can't remember why, but I then dragged the Sonitex plug on the masterchannel instead and now the sound was perfectly fine.

Now, why is there a different sound depending if the FX-plug is on the instrumentchannel itself or on the main masterchannel?

And no, I didn't put the FX into the instrumentrack with some strange routings.

Hi,

there could a few simple ones: difference of volume, maybe another effect that would be after the distortion, on one of the tracks.. I know it sounds odd, but there must be an explanation.

The sound, as far as I know, should be exactly the same, in your case. Did you try to move the distortion back and forth, to compare the two?

*EDIT*
I must excuse myself, I just tried to start up a new project to recreate it, and what you know, it works.

But in my old project it still doesn't work, but I had forgot that I had a more complex instrumentrack, I'm gonna try to see if I can find the error but I still think that it should work, just as it did in the recreation.
