Operator, Instrument Rack, Sampler etc. All Disapeared

Post by David Heath » Tue Aug 21, 2007 11:53 am

Hi there,

I'm currently using Ableton 6.0.5 and have installed the following products:

Operator
Sampler
Essential Instruments Collection

Problem is, all of the instruments have disappeared from the browser for these products for no particular reason. Sets that already use the products continue to work (for example I have a set using a pizzicato cello, and it still loads the samples up) but the instruments are simply not browsable from the left menu meaning I can't select to use any more.

Does anyone know any reason why this might happen, and can may be provide a solution to sort it out?

Many thanks.

Hello,

You probably set a wrong folder for you Ableton Library, in the Preferences. Check into the File/Folder tab of the Preferences, for the Library path. The default path should be:

PC: C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\My Documents\Ableton\Library
Mac: user homefolder/library/application support/ableton/library

Hmm ... my Ableton library is definitely pointing in the right place, though I suspect I may have recently changed it from a custom location to the 'proper' location. I can't find the original folder though (it doesn't turn up in a search or anything) which is strange.

No problem, however; I have kept all my .alp files intact so it is just a case of re-installing them. I suppose the sets that still work with the previously installed patches are only working because I save all my sets self contained. Anyway; thanks for your help.

: )

Hi,

If you search with the OS search engine for 'Ableton' or 'Library', you shoul dfind the lost Library wouldn't you? So that you would not have everything copied 2 times (especially the EIC that is quite big).

Yeah, you're right; I got it now and it was several gigabytes in size.

Thanks for your help here; I appreciate it.
