Novation Remote SL: How can I test the 8 pads on the left?

Aloha!

I'm a producing n00b and I've just started experiencing with Ableton and bought myself a Remote 25SL midicontroller. Now I'm have some doubt about all the buttons / knobs of the device working correct (or also possible, I'm just too n00by to get it right).

Does anybody know a way of using / testing the 8 pads on the left of the device (above the keys and below the (limited) turnable knobs?

Never mind...they seem to be working now...

Sledgehammer seems to do the trick!
