shoot me down, I don't care: I like his music, I'm not a zealot.
I find his earlier music creative and inspiring;
brilliant lyrics with a very unique delivery (slurring, almost, makes sense 'cause of the bourbon, but it's really none of my business)
He brought back a break-the-rules attitude to pop arrangements when it was needed. Earlier song structure, was a sort of beautiful mess. The instrumentation is tight and while not radical, fresh: flutes, sax and strong metal section, ethnic percussion, and of course violins. Let's see, Live geeks, their computer and (maybe, *crosses finger*) his mildly virtuso guitarist friend. DMB, 4 or 5 rugged smoky cats, all trained to play jazz like it was the amen-break or four-on-the-floor. With jazz chordings here and there, and a drummer that can play ghost notes like no fucking software could ever produce, even if you haunched over it for the next two years...... Yea, I think Dave might have a slight advantage, over the hate club.
I'll let you shoot anyone you want down; but please come at me with more than just "oooohh, i just hate him, and his fans are soooo obnoxious and boring...". By that reasoning we should all be hating OSX and a few other things that _Just_Work_ the way they were creatively/with-originality intended to.
And now to please Tone:
Suckaz

i was walking down the street near columbus circle a few weeks ago , and saw him coming out of a hotel. he looked at me for a second like he knew me and was going to say something, then his face went all sour, like a a baby who just went in his diaper.
weird
no point to this, really. just that i saw him recently, and had a friend in school who fucked him.

at least throw some hate into it!
Fuck ghost notes when this is the backdrop. These 4 or 5 rugged smokey cats should get some dignity and play something fresh and innovative instead of milking the strange DMB gravy train. Unless playing disrespectful garbage like this for the rest of their lives is how they want to share their talents with the world...

OMFG!
At first, I was like, "Ya know that violin player is just doing his thing...it's actually not bad!", and then after about 45 secs into his solo he just hangs on that fucking dis-harmonic, flat-ass interval...HOLY CRAP! My ears are bleeding!
All that on top of listening to that drunk fucker destroy a classic tune. We hates him, my precious! WE HATES HIM!!!!!

dude he doesn't fit into the hippy jam band sound at all
more like the drunk college wanna-be hippie crowd
i'v seen him 4 times thinking maybe i'd like him if i saw him
all 4 shows were exactly the same (no jamming)
after that i decided to never listen again
Thank you.
please stop shitting on hippies.
dave is a coked up drunk frat-boy as are most of his fans.
hippies don't wear khaki pants and white baseball hats.
