Good flat screen monitor?
Good flat screen monitor?
Anyone here can recommend me a good flatscreen monitor brand?
I just love the detail and feel of my Ibook g4 and want a similar one for my dekstop.
What is good and not to be a killer on my wallet?

Check out the new ones. They are pricey, but why settle for a Hundai when you can go BMW...

I cant think of a sig
nec...!
By all means there are surely several valid opinions, but for my part, as someone whose priorities in choosing monitors were:
1 - To afford several monitors
2 - To have good quality pixelation, but not spend as a graphic designer would, but rather as someone who might spend long hours in from of the thing...
I ended up with NECs and SONY...
THe Sony monitor "melted" twice. BUt Sony's service was soo incredibly good (Both thimes thy brought me a new one at my door!), that I could certainly not speak against them !
The NECs have a VERY good resolution for music, as they are quite "MATTE" and resting for your eyes. THe quality has been above what the cost suggested.
Good luck

my lil brother gave me a free sylvania 15" lcd--works great for me, and the price was right! NEC is definitely good. I'm with head on this--two monitors are better than one awesome one, more real estate better than less, more money left in your pocket the better. You don't explicitly need silicon graphics quality for audio apps, just reliability--save a little for some audio gear by not buying the best thing around. There are also some interesting big monitors coming out--one is a dual 15" setup in one unit, another is a 30" single monitor--check out new products. The craziest thing I've heard in awhile is that there are already laptops in japan where the lcd monitor doubles as a SPEAKER--thats right a speaker! Supposedly the bass is better because of the large surface area--I got to see one of these!

We're using a couple of cheap ones, one of which I wouldn't recommend - it's a Megavision 15". But I would recommend the inexpensive Sceptre X5 15" screen. Nice, bright and crisp. Plus it has a very minimal outside "frame" if you will... about 1" on all edges as opposed to some which have up to 2" !!!

the new 20 and 23 inch apple cinema displays are shipping! they are mac and pc compatable this time around, because they use a regular DVI port. this is also good news for powerbook users. no more clunky ADC to DVI adapters!

This one is available for 699$ (MSRP) and doubles as a 20" LCD TV: http://www.syntaxgroups.com/catalog/pro ... cts_id=119

you get what you pay for
dell 2001fp
I don't know how much cash you have to drop, but I just got the Dell 2001fp and it's an absolute dream for working with audio. 20" LCD, and works as well as Apple's Cinema 20" for a few hundred less bucks.
