Pocket Dial is the answer!!!
Pocket Dial is the answer!!!
To all,
WOW, yerterday i got my self the Doepfer Pocket Dial.
This realy is the ultimate controler.
16 Knobs, 4 Banks, 16 MIDI chanels = 1024! controlers on one single unit.
For controling AL (Ableton Live) i use Preset 111, dipswitches to 0111 0110.
Stop looking for midi controlers, get a pocket dial (No, i'm not a Doepfer Salesman).
I've been looking for a 4-controll, milennium, phat-boy, all these unit's were not what i was looking for.
But this unit is the solution for diehard Live users like me.
Best regards,
Frank Heijkamp

What makes it special?
What makes the thing so good comparing to others? For example compared to Phat Boy?
A revolution in controling
I got a Phat-Boy for a couple of years now, and beleve me Pocket Dial is a revolution.
Pockte Dial has endles knobs, Phat-Boy doesn't. This is the fundamental difference.
Everyone likes to have as many knobs as possible.
Changing to an other midichannel will give access to more knobs.
CH 1 knob 1-13, CH 2 knob 14-26, etc.
But there is one problem. The knobs of the phat-boy stay in the same position.
Lets say you set knob 3 to a value of 40.
Switch to CH 2 and knob 16 which was knob 3 before, it will start to send at a value of 40 and go up, but in Live knob 16 has got a value of let's say 80, so there is a problem. The knob does not react the way you would like it to do. It will make a jump from 80 to 40 and then go up on turning right, instead of starting at 80 and going up on turning right.
The pocket dial and other controlers sending relative values, don't send an absolute value of 40 but send a + or -.
So knob 16 will start at 80 and go up on turning right. The knob is reacting as expected.
Changing the channel will give many knobs with immediate natural respons. Like automatic updating moving faders.
Too much talking, just try it, i promisse you'll like it.
