Convince me to buy Live
Convince me to buy Live
Here's the deal: I do my composing in Reason on a Gateway 450XL notebook, which is a smokin' laptop. I do not, however, find Reason to be an ideal performance platform. I've checked out the demo for Live, and it's got potential for me.
I have a few questions: do I need an external soundcard? The prelistening feature seems cool, but can I live without it? I've got a Oxy8 controller. Does is rock with Live? It does with Reason. I don't have a lot of money to throw around. I'd like to be able to jam onstage with just the laptop and a mouse. Anyone doing this with Live? Got sets online for me to listen to?
Thanks in advance. I want to believe.

Live rocks beyond anything you can believe, and you can use Reason with it via ReWire - how cool is it to be able to create new loops on the fly while playing other loops?
There's way too much to re-hash - check out all the posts and try the demo.

need convincing? ... i'd just like to add....
even if you're just into fucking up your tracks in a live setting.... the program is the absolute providence of any app that you'd ever want to think about using ...
besides maybe max/msp.
but i'll just stop right there....

Hi,
- the best live tool ever,
- good interace,
- keeping a good overview over what you're doing,
- fastest program to work with,
- the sound, check the filter delay,
- warp is perfect,
- best reverb ever!
- there is nothing like Live.
...
Just download the demo and revolutionize your sound.
Peace,
f

I have a few questions ...
Check my original post. How about needing a multi-output sound card? Does anyone have sets online made with Live that I can check out?

I've got a set online at http://www.djrx.com/mix/ . It's pretty much a straight dj mix, with some filtering, except with Live I was able to resequence some of the tracks. For instance, in the Bebel Gilberto remix, I started the track with a few bars from the end, which is obvious when you listen to it. Also, I have one original track (at the 47th minute) which consisted of loops sequenced live.

RX: download too large
Any chance you could extract the original stuff in to a smaller download?

Convince you to buy LIVE!
LIVE! Not only does what it declares, it does it beyond immediate imagination...meaning, you will probably never outgrow this software's ability to work with your musical ideas. And, even in windoze, it does not crash!
You'll not regret the purchase!
Peace.
