only 1 & 2 Outputs for soundcard??

Hi,

Trying to sync motu 828 mk1 firewire soundacard to ableton, getting a signal throught to the card, ableton is only offering the option of outputting to 1, 1/2, & 2.

I am using windows vista, when I configure the driver to MME/DirectX to the laptop its clear.

If I try to go MME/DirectX to the motu firewire audio W Wave there is no sound.

The other otpion is ASIO as the driver type which gives me the option of choosing MOTU as audio device... a box comes up with "failed to open audio device "MOTU FireWire Audio"

I have managed to get sounds through to the sound card but they flutter and cut in and out is it a driver issue a vista issue?

Any help thoughts woudl be appreciated.

Go into Ableton's preferences, under the Audio tab
You will have to activate all the other outputs.


By default, Live disables all the "extra" inputs and outputs to conserve CPU resources or something.

thanks again for helping on this issue laird, its because we cant import the wavs we are tryinh to link the sound card.

have been in audio and gone to configure, it only gives the option of 1 & 2 or 1/2 not the 8 that I need.

Under asio it still doesnt see the motu, I have downloaded the motu vista patches but they wont instal as the say they cant find anywhere to put the file.

I am truley stumped!!!

Hi,

Indeed, it seems the MOTU driver is missing. You should definitely use ASIO driver if possible.
