live stops responding when scanning for custom vsts

I was twiddling around with setting up the folder where live finds my vsts and accidentally set it to the entire hard drive on my mac

now i cannot open live, it starts to load up at the splash screen and i get a message that says scanning for custom vsts, and then it stops responding.

i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that did not fix the problem.
is there some sort of configuration file that i could edit to change the setting back??

Hi,

You'll have to reset the Preferences by deleting the preferences.cfg file. So after that, you'll have to set your preferences as you like again, but the problem should be solved. You should find the file there:

* Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Ableton\Live x.xx\Preferences
* Mac OS X: /Library/Preferences/Ableton
