Boxed version vs Download version opinions
Boxed version vs Download version opinions
I'm about to upgrade my version of Live 5 to Live 6 (which comes with a free upgrade to vers 7 when released).
Is it worthwhile to spend an extra 100 bucks for the boxed version?
A printed manual would be nice but not essential.
The "Essential Instrument Collection", from what I've read, may be not so essential?
Am I missing something? Something in the boxed version that I will be kicking myself for having not purchased?
Thanks!

Thanks for your opinions!
You saved me 100 clams, making the upgrade more affordable.
And thanks for the idea of ordering the box separately at some point.

How can you compare Zebra CM, which is a synthesizer mostly based on analog subtractive synthesis to sampled loops ? (Zebra is a great synth no doubt, but they do totally different things). That's like comparing Analog to Simpler.
Some of the EIC is actually pretty good (some not quite so hot as is always the case with synthesized or sampled sounds) , the main drawback is that it seems more CPU intensive than you might expect on some patches, especially grand piano.

I've been thinking about this a lot (Live 6 download or box).
Here's what I'm doing:
Buy the download version of Live 6... get Live 7 box for $40.
That's close enough for me. I'll be without EIC1 and Live 6 manual, but for $60 cheaper than having those now, I'll have EIC2, the Puremagnetic loops and the Live 7 manual.
I'm good with that.

download now - you get download later
box now - you get boxed later
buying the "box" in the shop with manual and stickers is and will be just that. no sounds.
