Reason v4

Post by mister_doctor » Fri Nov 16, 2007 3:32 pm

...is pretty sexy. :D

I've been too busy with work / school to really dig into it, but I dig the new sequencer and have spent hours playing with Thor.

Planning on Rewiring it into Live this weekend. My new frankenstein PC should be able to handle the load, but we'll see...

Anyone else tried it yet?

bought it, as I always do, played with it, made a few sounds... closed it and never ever re-opened it... as I always do too...
The thing is that everytime I open it I take nice sounds from it!!!, but I hate rewire (as almost everyone) and I do not like to use Reason as a DAW, but as an instrument, inside Live, of course...
Conclusion, like it, but no go... til they come with a vst version (ok, never)... But when I feel uninspired I just open it and daaaa, magic! 5 minutes later I keep playng with its sound in Live stretching, chopping, envelopes, fx, and then I just keep using Live, audio and vst's...

old same story...

Same here except this time I didn't buy version 4. I've learned my lesson. Reason stills an excellent software imo but I can't integrate it efficiently in my workflow with live.

I got it yesterday for Thor alone but end up loving Maelstrom just as much. Before this I was just dabbling around in Reason Adapted 3. I'm amazed you get all this stuff for the same price as a couple of soft synths. Using it as a Rewire device in Live is no problem at all, at least not so far. Also fun to just jam on in standalone.

Rewire is a bit clunky but I still get stuff done with it.

What I do is typically do parallel sequencing.

I would open up Live.

Rewire Reason into Live.

Sequence entirely in Reason (or do foundation of song).

Use Live for recording audio, or occaisonal softsynth sound or external midi sound I can't get from Reason.

Use Live's tap tempo function (Reason don't have this).

Record Reason clips into Live as audio.

Arrange in Live.

I actually do a little better recording in Reason for some Reason.
