So...I've never held a Remote Zero SL in my greasy hands, but it looks darn cool and very useful.
Currently I'm using the M-Audio Axiom 25 as a MIDI controller. It feels good in many ways but I need more knobs and sliders.
Question:
Does the Remote Zero SL have any controls that reset to a middle position like the pitch bend wheel on a regular keyboard? It doesn't look that way
That feature is very important to me....
Would also like to hear from some owners of the thing - is it nice?
Hope you can help,
Cheers,
AndyZar

...it has no controls that reset themselves to a zero position. but you can plug in two expression/controller pedals, maybe you could check something out with that. but it is a great controler, you have really lots of knobs, buttons, faders, and the possibilities to program the thing are quite deep imho.

thx for the reply.
I guess I could also just use it with the Axiom.....if that wouldn't be a crowded house...

Btw, is it any good at triggering clips and scenes?

I love mine, it's a zero.
the automapping is awesome, (although you can still map manually with live.)
It's also really great to have those big LEDs to give you feedback about the paramater you're moving, really great for the mixer section, and with L7 the auto name feature of Live when dragging in a new device, automatically transfers to the SL.
Which is great for me cause I rarely take the time to name a channel when starting out on a new track.
I know what you mean, the mod wheel would be nice, but I daisy chain mine with my old oxygen 8 and I've got a small amount of keys/mod and pitch, for performance and my larger midi piano for composing at home etc.
Check one out at a store exhibit with Live, I think you'll like it.
(edit):
Oh and I'd add that many people don't like the drum pads very much, I have found that they needed a little tweaking, via the sensitivity settings of the SL itself, but then they were very usable. I don't use them much because I'd prefer the note off message from the pad to be contingent upon a full release of pressure, like the keyboard of your computer. I use a mixture of long and short samples in a drum sampler/rack that I like to be able to control how long the sample plays by how long I hold the pad.
But the problems that some have with the sensitivity of the pads themselves,
I feel, can be adjusted for ones own taste.
Oh, and it has a shitload of knobs and faders which is sick.
