Problem with drums and midi and stuff...

Hi
I'm pretty new to Ableton and I tried to make some drum tracks on it by pasting drum samples into separate tracks (for exaple kick in track 1, snare in track 2, hh in track 3 etc.) but it's really stressful. In the past I've been using Project 5 and it's Velocity made drum making a piece of cake. Now I'd like to know how to make drums like this (like P5's Velocity etc.).

I know I have to drop the "Impulse" into the "effects zone" but the only thing that I get on the screen is something like fig. 10 from this link :

(not the "simple delay" effect, I mean the "Impulse" only

I have NO IDEA how to get the screen from the first link... And I think that that's the way to make drums a lot easier

The screen from the "fig 10" you've posted and the MIDI map you want are both part of Impulse.

I don't think you are noticing that there are two tabs in the bottom right corner once you've loaded Impulse. One is "fig 10," the other is the MIDI map you want.

Once you start recording in you midi track you can go back and sequence the MIDI map however you wish.

this is the only thing that I get when I drag Impulse into the right bottom corner.

1. start in session view, it will be easier for you.
2. drag & drop impulse into a midi track.
3. double click a slot on that track to create an empty midi clip.
4. double click the empty clip.
5. program your drums using draw mode (ctrl+b)

That's an empty impulse you dragged.
Right below it there's the analog & electronic kits that come with live, drag one of those...

... or drag & drop your own samples to each empty slot.

and if I use Addictive Drums ? What do I have to do ?

p.s. I dropped some DKFH samples into the Impulse slots but I still can't insert a new MIDI clip...

My main problem : Why can't I insert a MIDI clip in my MIDI track ??? And how do I make drums with Addictive ?
