Live 7 Midi Problem

I am having problems with midi in Live 7.0.1. If I play a note it registers on the midi track in indicator on the top right but no sound is heard from the instrument. Intermittantly it will then sound the notes I am playing and after a while stop working again. No problems with Live 6 on the same computer. 2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo laptop, Windows XP and NI Audio Kontrol 1 USB sound Card.

Anyone else got this? Unusable at the moment!

Same problem here. My set up is this:

AMD Athlon 2600+
2GB RAM
WinXP Pro SP2
M-Audio Ozone midi controller/audio interface, the latest drivers from M-Audio website (tried also with ASIO4All drivers - same problem)

Live 6 works perfectly, Live 7 demo has a delay after I press a key on the midi keyboard. The audio settings are the same in Live 6 and Live 7. Tested this on one default operator track (just a sine wave), but the problem occurs with every midi instrument.

If you can sort this out, I'll upgrade to Live 7.

I am having the same problem!

Using a P4 3.4GHz with Windows XP Pro SP2 and 3GB of RAM.

So you're having bad latency with MIDI timing? I was having that problem last night, but only around 30ms (still annoying, yes). I went into MIDI/Sync prefs and found the input for my keyboard. There's a new setting: Port Type. I tinkered with that until it worked. Don't know what it means

I don't know if that's the problem...?

What exactly did you do? I can't find the port type setting.

Set your port type to MME. Live 7 is defaulting to Direct Music and this doesn't work so well on all interfaces.

Click the little arrow next to the midi port name in the midi prefs. This opens some more information including time shifts and clock types and so on. It also allows you to change the midi driver type. If you are on PC, then selecting MME will make it behave like it did in Live 6.

I think I have mine as MME and ASIO for the regular audio stuff. I've recorded in a short (sort of) but I am having some other weird problem. I record the midi with in/out going to the USB A MIDISport (2x2 and synth is on A, 2nd synth would be on B if I decide to hook it up). I get it in and plays back fine. I then arm track to record the audio from Ext. In which appears to go fine. Now I want to render that clip to arrangement and I hear nothing in arrangement screen when I play said clip. It's probably something stupid I am forgetting seeing it's been awhile since I actually recorded anything......any ideas? But so far MIDI in/out seems to be working ok. The quantize seems to be a bit off (screen says 1/16 in lower right side of midi pane) and if I select all and quantize start/end I expected things to fill out the boxes to make everything nice and even, but nope, didn't happen. Starts were all pretty much on time as I usd the metronome on the recording.

Ah, now I found the port type. I didn't even notice the little arrows. It works well with the MME setting. Thanks a lot for yer help!

Now I can upgrade to 7!
