it doesn't matter if you've posted about it before or whatever, I'm just intrested in hearing about everyones groove methods, that includes if you're using hardware to cover this or other apps stand alone or via rewire and of course if you're doing it only in Live.
we got the slicer/drumracks
how do you groove?

i play a daft punk 45 at 33, videotape myself dancing to it, then speed up the video to the proper tempo with the song dubbed to it (hey i could use ableton for that)
then upload to youtube...

in all honesty now, fuck up the midi
also select a few notes in your sliced beat (on the midi track) and right-click Stretch MIDI
... warp markers in MIDI!
arpeggiator is fun too

good shit good shit, i'm in the process of trying to iron out as seamless approach as possible with my mpc and Live, using the mpc for groove but unlike that commercial i'm not gelin just yet

Arpeggiator + random is a good one - esp. with the new ALT mode on random
note length plug-in can also be useful in the chain

recycle and slice to the rex markers.
oh and make your own slices in recycle, the sensitivity setting is great but not infallible.

Record fart - slice - pitch up an octave - arrange in salsa pattern at 140 bpm - import dj_sammy_tiesto_-_heaven_(armin_van_boorin_remixxx)_hax.ru_.mp3 - render to disk - enjoy profit, recognition and fame.

but seriously okkay..... retaining a groove is one thing and thats easy, but what about swing, and creating a groove. as much as I like Live and the mpc in tandem I would love to be able to create good swing with Live alone. any tips up your sleeves thata way?

If you don't mind spending a little time, ctrl+4 is an excellent alternative (turns grid off in piano roll)

oh yeah definitely abuse cntrl+4, i guess i just wish there was a more elegant way crossbred with speed.
you know if Live 7 doesn't tell me anything else it tells me that live 8 is going to be a monster.
