they should just give some of the forum regulars admin/mod. privileges, then they don't have to pay anyone

Think it solves it all
+1

- It would however be fun to see how many of the forum regulars disappear mysteriously in the transition
:D i was wondering about that too

to be clear - I'm not talking about heavy handed moderation - I dont want that either

but I think it would be dead easy for them to set up an automatic filter that prevents obviously obscene words - or at least combinations of words that can end up obscene

so for genuine OT forum regulars they could still post "Republican Presidential candidate Father O'Bastard up on incest charges" then it might get through, but as soon as the words "free" and "preteen" are detected in the same title then they are prevented from posting

it really can't be that hard - I had to learn how to code a search engine like google for an assignment in a year 1 semester one programming subject, so code genii like Ableton could surely manage it

I think these pr0n spam threads are obviously serving a need here.

In case you hadn´t noticed, the "preteen incest" thread has had 67 views.

The "Sending midi data to a Audio track fx ?" thread has only had 14.

I think that says it all.

*Edit* The "preteen incest" thread has now had 70 views - three more since I started my post.

'preteen incest' is a bit out of order though mate - kind of crossing a line there...

point is they could easily set up some kind of filter to just weed out the kind of shit that really shouldnt be there

Need and want are two different things. What people are saying is that they don't want it. They are also saying there is NO need for it.

You don´t need to tell me mate - I have a young daughter.

The point was making is that at least 70 people on this forum are interested enough in preteen incest to click on a thread entitled:
Free Incest Preteen Here 3!
I can see from the thread title what it is and I don´t need to view it to know that I´m not interested.

But - 70 Ableton forum users obviously are.

What does that tell you?

It has had more views than "Random porno movies, #[20..100] types(all for free!!!)" [58] and "elitepornstars vivid porn stars" [26]

Who clicks this shit?

It can´t be people Googling in from outside because it was only posted 12 hours ago - too recent to be picked up by search engines.

well I guess the point here is that this forum is open to all ages and totally unrestricted so those 70 people could be kids

it looks really shit on Ableton as a company too - the unmoderated part makes them look open minded and progreesive - but the Nonce porn just makes them look like they're too tight or lazy to sort out a pretty basic security issue

I really seriously think they'd need to hire a web monkey for half a day to do it so there's really no excuse

and in the mean time it probably wouldn't hurt to give some of us who are always lurking some kind of moderator ability

I know nonce porn is no laughing matter* but i love the expression.
I dont want moderation at all but it really is about time they just sorted this shit out [...] it probably wouldn't hurt to give some of us who are always lurking some kind of moderator ability.
A simple piece of code to weed out the spam would suffice. I only post here because it is unmoderated. I don´t even use Live anymore but I like this forum because it doesn´t have some snotty egomaniac deciding what people can and can´t say.

And if I had to select a moderator for here you would be my first choice forge - you´re the only person on here who never talks shite.

But - it would spoil you eventually and you´d turn into a cunt. Ever heard of the Stanford Prison Experiment?

I hate to be the one pointing out the obvious.... but the fact that it is unmodirated is the point

thanks, I'm touched by the vote of confidence

but you're absolutely right, the power would frighten me and I'm sure I would end up alienating loved ones, having rivals eliminated, invading sovereign forums, that kind of thing

yep - a spam filter is all I'm talking - in fact surely one of these could do something.....

All they need is one of those scripts where it say's "type these letters" or whatever into a box when you register, along with email authentication. That would eliminate most of it. They don't seem to care too much about this because this isn't the first thread like this. I started one myself some time ago. It was clearly labeled, like this one and sat at the top of the forum for a bit.

with a totally free society like this we're bound to read and see some things we may not want to see or read...it's free, unmoderated and some other descriptive adjective that describes an unmoderated forum

anywayz - the forum is lightly moderated - several of us have gotten emails "advising" us on very flammable discussions that we may or may not have been involved in...
