I use Lives slicer and I use an Mpc, the more I try to use them together the more I end up using them apart. guru is just nuts, it's another instrument that i'm getting more into in using it by itself, put it in stand alone mode and use it for a day, it's amazing and now that it can export audio its sick as my flu. its the type of thing that if you use it what you make won't sound anything like what comes out of live or the mpc so its a great app to have in your arsenal
Mac, Mpc, and a Microphone
Thanks for the Slicer Abe.

phatmatik pro is faster , and less cpu intensive...
plus you can load up to 16 loops per instance...
and control more than just 8 macros...
so it's a bit more convenient
but drum racks are great tools
and the ability to put different fx on each pad is fantastic
and I already started building some freaky slicing 'defaults' !!!
Ableton 7 is a bit of a pain to work with really...
just previewing a clip freezes/slows everything up...
a real productivity issue...
hope they can stabilize this version real soon...

Kontakt3 - Best of both worlds. Slices just like phatmatik and you can put effects on individual slices. All within the same instance. Just sayin....3dot... wrote:phatmatik pro is faster , and less cpu intensive...

I prefer slicing in the ableton arranger over .. anything! the new slicer is a nice bonus but only for weird stuff or if im really really lazy because manually slicing is always the better choice and so darn easy in Live´s arrangement window. I also use Recycle sometimes and the mpc4000; its nice to slic with real sliders and to use your EARS!! and not your eyes.... ...
