midi controllers konking out

Post by zloo » Tue Dec 18, 2007 6:13 am

comrades, comradettes, this is not a Live specific issue, but this is my favorite forum, and i think it's as good a place as any to sniff out this bug..

my m-audio controllers, Triggerfinger and Radium49, both class compliant products,
get read by Live, Logic, Battery, Absynth, for a few seconds after getting plugged in
usb-wise, or after rebooting the program, then the program will stop seeing MIDi..

this has been going on since at least OS 10.4.x and continues through my update
@ MacOS 10.5.1..

i've repaiered permissions and recently zapped PRam..

MIDI just stops being received

this doen't happen with an old Novation midi only (not USB) keyboard i run through
the MIDI input of my Presonus Firepod..

google searches have been fruitless so far..

anyone have an idea of how i can tackle this?
really putting a crimp in my live Live style..

MacBookPro 2.16, 2MB ram, OS 10.5.1, Live 6 and 7

i know the MacBook Pros fatally modified the power supply to the firewire ports
forcing users to engage wall wart/transformers on audio devices previously blissfully
free of such things (as was the case with my saffire and fireboxes).

but i hadn't heard any problems with the usb ports, powerwise..

does anyone need to power their TriggerFinger or Radium?

i think it's something else..

thanks for the shot...

actually longjohns, you WERE on the scent.

i have triggerfinger inputting now through a Belkin powered usb hub.
the triggerfinger is no longer disconnecting itself after seconds.

so no matter how much Live kicks butt on an IntelDuo MBP,
Apple underpowered them in BOTH the firewire AND usb department.

steve jobs is HILARIOUS.
he got me. ha. ha.

(BTW i got ANOTHER thing wrong, the Radium keyboard is NOT class compliant.
triggerfinger IS. and M-Audio wouldn't answer my questions because it does not
yet support Leopard. BigBlueLounge answered the question.)
