New Novation Controller - Nocturn

Post by pat the dog » Thu Jan 17, 2008 10:21 am

Look's like Novation may have finally got it right on this one. 8 automapped rotary encoders with BCR style LED rings, a cross fader and a speed dial. The on-screen HUI makes sense, as does the price.

10 bucks says that same as all their other automap controllers, it won't support midi feedback from the host. Making the LED rings only useful while using their software as the middleman.

8 Rotaries? Looks like this thing is MADE for controlling macros in Racks.

£69? Groovy.

This seems like a massive mpc, but still can not compete with the power of the Roland Mv, it's very clear they are trying to compete with the MV-8800, analog synth and 8 track? thats so Roland

That Nocturn looks really cool... and it's cheap enough to buy a couple of 'em to control a series of racks.

This seems to have a "lemur-like" screen surface. I doubt it's anywhere near as flexible or programmable mind you.

Great. Inexpensive controller from Novation featuring Automap? For $130 or so?

Perfect little DJ controller.

I wish someone would make a simple high quality usb controller w/8 endless rotaries with LED AND LCD feedback, so you can see your parameters and position at a glance.

Seems like nothing beats the BCR for this so far...

But the BCR is kinda cheapie and has no LCDs...
GO VEGAN!!! - Macbook Air, Bass Station II, Some Korg shit, Live Suite, U-He, Audio Damage, Microtonic, Ohmicide, more soft stuffs, awesome controllers, euro rack modular synth,an awesome cat.

Sans the LCDs, check out the Kenton Killamix mini.
